High School Reunions
High School reunions are a good chance to meet old friends, and classmates
and to find out how everyone turned out. However depending on where you are in life high school reunions tend to be
stressful especially if you find yourself dealing with physical and financial issues. Many people fear that their
fellow ex classmates will see them as underachievers because they didn’t manage to achieve what they wanted to in
life.
Understanding High School Reunions
There are various types of high school reunions that range from parties, picnics to quite meetings arranged at a
common point such as in the home of an ex class fellow etc. Now it is common knowledge that regardless of what you
have managed to achieve in your life you may always feel small and insignificant. There is always the fear that
there may be an ex classmate that would look down upon you. The truth of the matter is that high school reunions
are not to make anyone feel bad.
Arranging High School Reunions
One of the biggest challenges of arranging a high school reunion is to locate all of your classmates. Some people
term this quite adequately as a herculean task. The longer it has been since the last meeting or reunion the more
difficult it can. However thanks to the internet the job has become slightly easier. Social networking sites such
as facebook and myspace allow you to search and find people based on where you studied. So if you are trying to
locate the class of 98 from Jefferson high school all you need to do is to browse through the list of high schools
to locate yours and then enter in the year of graduation. Other websites such as Classmates.com, fropper etc can
also be used to find the few that you were not able to locate.
Online phone books, your high school alumni, and other community websites can also be used to your advantage. Once
you have found all the classmates humanly possible you can then send each of them an email announcing the reunion
and the location of the reunion. Make sure that the high school reunion is at least announced 30days or a month in
advance. This will give people time to prepare.
Dealing with cold feet
Whenever we get invited to a high school reunion there is always this feeling of cold feet. The best way to
overcome the feeling of cold feet is to be realistic. We are all getting older and with age we also become fatter,
get more grey hair and even go through some tough times. The best way is not to judge yourself or anyone else. The
biggest fear people have is they will look less significant as compared to let’s say the most popular guy or gal in
high school. We are all imperfect human beings and a high school reunion is just to rejoice and remember the old
days once you understand that your cold feet will disappear.
